Indoor bonsai - PREMNA MICROPHYLLA - Kozlovoň malolistáDESCRIPTION: In its homeland, Southeast Asia, it is an evergreen or semi-deciduous shrub that belongs to the Verbenaceae family. There are about 300 species in the world, which differ mainly in the shape and size of the leaves. Premna branches profusely from its youth and is therefore very suitable for growing bonsai. It has simple ovate leaves up to 9 cm in size, with frequent cutting they will shrink to 1 cm in a bowl. The flowers are white to yellowish. The fruit is a dark purple drupe with a spherical shape, which ripens in September to October. The Czech name kozlovoň probably comes from the fact that, similar to serissa, when cut, it feels like a goat in our case. LOCATION: light and partial shade, temperature 10 - 25oC. WATERING: abundant, because it grows luxuriantly. FERTILIZATION: after 2 weeks all year round. TRANSPLANTING: after two years SOIL: substrate for bonsai Bonsai Master, or compost, peat, sand in a ratio of 2:1:1 CUTTING: responds to frequent cutting in a bright place, relatively quickly by growing new smaller leaves. If it is abundantly watered, it grows well even from old wood, in a larger bowl with enough nitrogen it produces large leaves. SHAPING: with wire, at any time, be careful not to cut the wires during vigorous growth. It is suitable for both shohins and larger bonsai.
