Indoor bonsai - Carmona macrophylla - Fuki teaDESCRIPTION: tropical, evergreen tree-like shrub with oval, dark green, shiny leaves that have small white dots on the surface, often mistaken for insects. The light brown-beige bark contrasts with the dark green leaves. It has white flowers almost all year round, with small leaves it produces small green berries that gradually turn red. Attention, the fruits are not edible. Carmonas with normal leaves do not produce fruit if they do not have pollinators. The plant is very suitable for indoor bonsai. It is tasty to aphids, if they occur, we destroy them by spraying (Mospilan). LOCATION: in an apartment on a sunny window, we protect smaller bonsai from strong sun and cold drafts. Temperature 15 - 24oC. WATERING: very carefully, regularly, the roots do not tolerate overwatering (permanently water in the saucer), nor excessive dryness. The frequency of watering varies with the richness of the foliage, if the leaves decline, we reduce the watering. It often reacts to poor watering by dropping all the leaves, new leaves together with flower buds will grow in a bright place within 3 weeks. FERTILIZATION: from March to September after 2 weeks, in winter after a month with liquid fertilizers. TRANSPLANTING: every other year in the spring with a slight shortening of the roots. SOIL: Substrate for bonsai Bonsai Master, or clay (akadama), peat, sand in a ratio of 2 : 2 : 1. PRUNING: twigs still, new shoots after developing 6-8 leaves in 1-3. by letter. SHAPING: we can wire throughout the year as needed. New shoots until slightly woody.
