Indoor bonsai - Sagerécie thea - Sagerécie theaDESCRIPTION: tropical evergreen shrub with glossy, small, fresh green leaves and interestingly mottled peeling bark, similar to sycamore bark. The flowers are inconspicuous greenish, the fruits look like wild blueberries and have a similar taste. It grows happily and is very suitable for shaping bonsai. In winter, with regular and sufficient watering, it tolerates temperatures of 18 - 22 oC well. LOCATION: in a bright place, an east window is best. It can be outside from May to September. A suitable temperature in winter is 10 - 22 oC. At a higher temperature, it requires more humid air and timely watering. WATERING: plentiful throughout the year, less at lower temperatures, but we still keep the substrate slightly moist. FERTILIZATION: from spring to autumn after 14 days, in winter at a higher temperature after 3 weeks. TRANSPLANTING: young plants every year, older ones after 2 years in the spring. SOIL: Substrate for bonsai Bonsai Master, or clay (akadama), peat, sand in a ratio of 2 : 2 : 1. PRUNING: new growths must be pruned throughout the year, if not pruned, they produce dull flowers and then blue fruits. SHAPING: we can still wire, new additions after lignification.
